Saturn in Sagittarius
Saturn rolled into (Tropical Zodiac) Sagittarius last December (2014). Saturn exits back – retrogrades – into Scorpio in June for a couple of months, then heads back to Sagittarius in mid-September where Saturn will stay until the end of 2017. That means the first six months of 2015 was a taste, a test, a titillating sample of what’s to come.
As previously mentioned, in the earlier Saturn in Scorpio material, there’s a similar alignment forthcoming, over the next two-three years with the first of the GenX charts, as the Natal Neptune for those born between 1970 and 1982 (+/-) will have Saturn conjunct that generation’s Natal Neptune.
Same message, as before applies, but there’s more to it, this time.
Saturn in Sagittarius
There’s another element to be considered, too. Starts on August 3, 2015, as Saturn ‘squares’ Jupiter. Other dates for that? March 23, 2016 & May 26, 2016.
Saturn will ‘square’ Neptune, November 26, 2015, June 17, 2016, and September 10, 2016.
This is part of the harsh reality that Saturn unloads on Sagittarius. Bit of an adept at “Many things Sagittarius,” that’s me.
The GenX, mostly those born in the middle of the 1970’s, will have a unique experience with both Neptune square Neptune and the Saturn conjunction, and for the precious few, both at the same time.
Any astrological event that involves Neptune is spiritual with my standard warning about escapist behavior. The effect of Neptune square Neptune is one of watching a dream die, eroded by harsh reality, or perhaps goaded by spiritual hopes that are frankly untenable.
“Head in the clouds, feet on the ground,” is my typical admonishment for Neptune, but what I usually see? “Head buried in the sand, feet up in the air.”
Hint: this is a midlife transition point, worse yet, some call it a “Mid-Life Crisis.”

Neptune is also about faith and a belief system. “Religion” to some and nebulous “spirituality” to others.
Stardust Motel
Imagine, for every sign, that faith (religion, spirituality, core beliefs) will be examined, up close, and personal, but also in a discussion setting, too. Be prepared to have that talk about belief systems, with whomever asks.
The awful, ubiquitous catch-all of these modern times?
“I’m spiritual, not religious.”
That also means, the higher mind, aspects of both religion and faith, are tested, refined, honed, and perhaps stripped down, laid bare. Possibly, in my world, posted on a web page as a rant, or series of observations. Can a belief system be reduced to a series of sound bytes?
“Do no harm.”
Right.
Saturn in Sagittarius
Much digital ink has been spilled over the rise and fall of Hair Metal. Not covering that, not in depth, not here. One of the scions of the genre, his first book was a turning point for me as it covered the rise of inudustry-driven music where the art became product. Style was emphasized over content. Flash and appearance was far more important than lyrical content.
Two examples come to mind, the bands KISS and Poison, classics in their own rights, but such poignant examples.
As Saturn in Scorpio wraps up this passage with its messages, what to look forward to?
Saturn might temper elemental fire, or rather the Sagittarius (mutable) fire might do better with a greater than usual degree of focus. It’s all about truth, the heart of the matter. More austere. Perhaps a strengthening of the artisanal empires, just as a thought. Small, micro-brew, niche-oriented craftsmanship with an emphasis on the whole chain from seed, to plant, to harvest, to manufacture, and finally, delivery to the end-user, the consumer. Think of this as the antithesis of “Hair Metal.”
The key elements of 2016 are Saturn in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Virgo, and Neptune in Pisces. This sets up a mutable T-Cross, which, in some astrological circles, is an unfortunate arrangment tinged with horrific foreboding. Ominious, even.

The end is near!
Hardly the way I see it. But Saturn tends to remove sentiment. Saturn strips the process to its bare form. There’s a degree where I’ll hear a familiar comment, “Well, that sucks.”
Sure, to quote a former lover, “Saturn sucks.” But her experience with Saturn was that Sagittarius attitude where we rue the day when faced with an alternative, either hard work, or misery.
“Isn’t hard work miserable? Same difference?”
Two books, more like slim volumes, come to mind when faced with what we can expect from Saturn, especially in 2016 as it faces off against both Neptune and Jupiter, so the two ideas, two slim texts?
Camus, “The Myth of Sisyphus” and Boethius, “Consolation of Philosophy.”
Rather dour texts, in some ways of seeing it, but also valuable with the lesson imparted. Saturn in Sagittarius is a return to a more philosophical way of looking at matters, perhaps with a touch of the Stoic, as well.

How does a Roman author and a French Existentialist offer solutions for Saturn in Saggitarius?
It’s about the attitude that we employ to face the percieved obstacles. Simply put.
Doesn’t matter what sign, this is about a touch more austerity, leavened with a dose of dogma-bashing, sprinkled with spiritual reality.
What works? What doesn’t work? If it doesn’t work? Stop expending effort in that area, see what Saturn directs us to do next.
As with the end of hair metal, the last time Saturn was in Sagittarius? The extent was raw, bereft of adornment, all flannel and hard chords. Grunge. Saturn strips incidental, unimportant sentiment. Reduces flash for raw materials, stripped bare.
Frequently? Saturn in Sagittarius will direct us to make license plates. It’s that simple.
